When Running Denon Auto Tune Do You Use Sub Crossover

31.12.2020
I have a denon avc-a1se, I have all my speakers set to small and subwoofer to yes.
According to the manual this means all stuff below 80Hz won't be played by the speakers and will be sent to the sub. Does this also mean that anything above 80Hz will not be sent to the sub or will it continue to receive the full bandwidth of the LFE channel.
The manual says that .1 LFE channel receives stuff upto 120Hz, so my question is this:
Does setting the speakers to small act as a crossover frequency cut off for the sub or is it just a cut off for the main speakers. Meaning I would have to use the subs own frequency cut off.
Hope that all makes sense. I'm just curious as I read elsewhere in this forum that you can set the crossover on the amp to 80Hz and then max out the sub. Obviously wouldn't wanna max out the sub it's still recieving a frequency range up to 120Hz.
  • Denon AVR-4306 Operating Instructions Manual. Owners manual. Set the volume to halfway and set the crossover frequency to the maximum or Low pass filter off if your subwoofer can adjust the output volume and the crossover frequency Some subwoofers have a standby mode. Be sure to turn this function off before performing the Auto Setup.

Press OPTION when the input source is “Tuner”. The option menu screen is displayed. Use to select “Auto Preset”, then press ENTER. The unit starts to tune in to radio stations automatically and preset them. When presetting is completed, “Completed” is displayed. Dynamic Volume adjusts the output volume to the optimal level while constantly monitoring the level of the audio input to the unit. Optimal volume control is performed automatically without any loss in the dynamism and clarity of the sound when, for example, the volume suddenly increases for commercials shown during television programs. Dec 27, 2005  I'm using the Dynaudio BX9A sub with my BM6As, crossover set to about 65hz. This lets the BM6As open up a little bit more, and lets you feel the thump. The BM6As actually go down to 40hz, but thats at the expense of power and dynamic range. You really don't want them trying to reproduce frequencies that low. Subwoofers are great at making music loud, but only to a certain point. Once you’ve hit that point of no return, the music may sound garbled or too buzzy. The trick is to set your subwoofer’s.
